PERSONAL BELIEFS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, and Licensed Marital and Family Therapist. For twenty-nine years I have served individuals, couples, families, and groups in Hartford and Litchfield counties. I maintain a full time private practice in Terryville, CT.

As an Integrative Therapist utilizing the principals of Dr. Richard Erskine, and Dr. Milton Erickson, I specialize in Stress related disorders, Relationship problems, and Post traumatic stress. My approach is relationship based, non-pathological, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe atmosphere, free of judgements, which supports the discovery of self, and effective communication with others.

Clients come with problems including: Fibromyalgia, asthma, chronic pain, depression, panic, anxiety, grief and loss, and marital /relationship discord.

From 1980-1990 I worked for Bristol Hospital's Counseling Services on both the inpatient unit and as Senior Staff in the outpatient clinic.  During those years I created and ran the Hospital's Biofeedback and Stress Management programs. In addition to providing numerous lectures and workshops to professionals, agencies, organizations and the community, I served as a consultant for the diabetes, cardiac rehabilitation and wellness programs. I also coordinated a multi-disciplinary team which interviewed and made treatment recommendations for all incoming patients. As a member of the Strategic Family Therapy Team  I developed unique approaches to particularly challenging family problems.

I have presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of Stress reduction, Methods of Attunement, and indirect forms of suggestion as developed by Dr. Milton Erickson.

I first published in 1996: Therapeutic Involvement: The Bull Becomes Attuned Transactional Analysis Journal, 26, 293-302
